On Wednesday, three people were injured after a pickup truck slammed into an ice cream truck on Whitaker Avenue in Philadelphia. According to police, a northbound Chevrolet Silverado traveling at a high rate of speed struck a southbound Honda CR-V, then crashed into the back of an ice cream truck. The collision forced the ice cream truck into a Honda Pilot.
The Silverado driver and the ice cream truck driver were both transported to Temple University Hospital where they are both listed in critical condition, police said. The Honda CR-V driver was taken to Einstein Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.
Area residents told local news outlets that speeding is a daily occurrence on Whitaker Avenue and a constant concern for those with small children and elderly family members.
No charges have been filed in the crash, which remains under investigation.
