school bus accident

On Wednesday morning, a school bus carrying 54 kindergarten through 8th grade students crashed head-on into a tow truck in Luzerne County. The collision occurred on Route 115 when the students were en route to their second day of classes at Bear Creek Community Charter School in Wilkes-Barre, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The bus driver, tow truck driver, and 49 children were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

State Police Captain Patrick Dougherty reported that a medical issue may have caused the tow truck’s driver to cross into oncoming traffic at the time of the crash. At the accident scene, Bear Creek CEO Jim Smith said he would keep up with the ongoing investigation. He acknowledged the need to prepare for any such unfortunate events in the future.
