Philadelphia Chain Reaction Crash Involved SEPTA Bus

On Tuesday afternoon, a chain reaction crash took place in Northeast Philadelphia that involved a SEPTA bus, SUV, and paratransit vehicle. The multi-vehicle accident occurred around 1:30 pm when the paratransit vehicle slammed into the SEPTA bus and the SUV at the intersection of Bustleton and Devereaux Avenues. No life-threatening injuries accompanied the collision but nearly 10 victims sustained injuries during the chain reaction crash.

Chain reaction crashes tend to occur in congested areas or around road construction. When transit vehicles are involved, numerous passengers may incur serious injuries or even fatalities. In some cases, the driver of a transit vehicle may be engaging in driving practices such as drowsy driving and distracted driving that may adversely affect the driving and put other individuals at-risk.
